About The Position

Pyramid Healthcare is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Family Mentor to join our team in Asheville, NC. This unique role is designed for someone who has successfully navigated challenges within the child welfare or Department of Social Services (DSS) system and is passionate about helping other families achieve stability and success. As a Family Mentor, you will use your lived experience to build trust, provide encouragement, advocate for families, and connect them with resources that support recovery, reunification, and long-term wellness. Working closely with DSS, treatment providers, and the Pyramid Healthcare team, you will play an important role in empowering families as they work toward their goals.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Current North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS/PSS) Certification required.
  • Lived experience as a parent, caregiver, or family member who has navigated the Department of Social Services (DSS) or child welfare system required.
  • Valid North Carolina driver's license with reliable transportation required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting families involved in recovery, reunification, behavioral health, or substance use services preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide peer-based mentoring and support using your lived experience to encourage hope, resilience, and positive outcomes.
  • Build trusting relationships with families involved with the Department of Social Services (DSS).
  • Assist families in navigating community resources, treatment services, and case plan expectations.
  • Maintain regular communication with DSS caseworkers, treatment providers, and other community partners.
  • Participate as an active member of the multidisciplinary treatment team, providing a family-centered perspective.
  • Conduct outreach and provide ongoing encouragement to promote engagement in services.
  • Complete timely and accurate documentation in the electronic health record.
  • Prepare progress updates and participate in concurrent reviews with referral sources as assigned.
  • Participate in peer record reviews and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Transport clients to appointments and community resources as needed.
  • Protect client confidentiality and maintain compliance with HIPAA and agency policies.
  • Complete all required trainings and maintain certification requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
