About The Position

Greater Philadelphia Health Action, Inc. (GPHA), a non-profit healthcare organization providing compassionate and affordable primary and behavioral healthcare in the Greater Philadelphia area, is seeking full-time Family Peer Specialists for its Behavioral Healthcare Division. The role supports Intensive Behavioral Health Services (IBHS) and requires the ability to share personal recovery experiences and form authentic peer-to-peer relationships. Effective performance requires a personal belief in recovery; genuine hope and optimism that peers will succeed; sincere interest in peers’ welfare and recognition of each person as an individual; willingness to share personal recovery experiences; and flexibility in engaging people according to their receptivity and individual needs, recognizing that needs may vary over time.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or a related field and three years of administrative experience in a substance abuse/mental health-related social service area, with certification in peer specialist support; OR
High school diploma, certification in peer specialist support, and knowledge of addiction/recovery and working with persons living with an addiction.
Ability and willingness to share personal recovery experiences.
Ability to develop authentic peer-to-peer relationships.

Responsibilities

Support Intensive Behavioral Health Services (IBHS) in the Behavioral Healthcare Division.
