The Family Peer Advocate (FPA) is a parent or caregiver who is raising or has raised a child with serious mental health concerns and is personally familiar with the challenges and community resources available to children and families. As an active member of the Youth Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team, the FPA supports caregivers through role modeling, education about self-help techniques and group processes, coping strategies informed by lived experience, symptom-management skills, and assistance with rehabilitation, recovery, and resilience. The role helps ensure caregiver engagement and active participation in treatment planning, and reinforces skills over time. Services are delivered in a trauma-informed, culturally and linguistically competent manner. The FPA helps families use natural and community supports and resources, while supporting self-determination, choice, shared decision-making, and collaboration. The position is mobile in Westchester County and requires a flexible schedule. The FPA reports to the Youth ACT Team Leader. This is a full-time, non-exempt position working 35 hours per week, with an annual salary of $50,000.
