About The Position

Helio Health is seeking a credentialed Family Peer Advocate (FPA) for the Youth Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) program. This role involves providing formal and informal support, drawing on lived experience, to families raising children/adolescents aged 10 to 21 who are experiencing social and emotional challenges. The position is full-time, during regular business hours, Monday through Friday. Helio Health is looking for a candidate committed to community-based work and supporting children with complex mental health needs and their families.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 and have a High School diploma or a GED.
  • Possess a credential as a Family Peer Advocate (FPA) or Youth Peer Advocate (YPA), recognized by the NYS Office of Mental Health.
  • Lived experience raising a child with serious emotional disturbance and familiarity with associated challenges.
  • Must deliver client services in the community.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and own transportation.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Good data management and utilization skills.
  • Good communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Multilingual a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Educate recipients about self-help techniques and self-help group processes
  • Teach recipients effective coping strategies and symptom management skills based on personal lived experience
  • Assist in clarifying rehabilitation for recipients
  • Provide family to family support
  • Assist in navigation of systems and connections to external services
  • Actively participate in daily team meetings for status review, service plan updates and staff assignments
  • Complete all required documentation
