About The Position

BAMSI's Community Service Agency (CSA) program supports families raising youth with serious emotional disturbance (SED). The program partners with caregivers to strengthen their ability to navigate complex systems, build confidence in parenting, and reduce reliance on inpatient or residential services. As a Family Partner, your lived experience helps families feel understood, supported, and empowered. You play a key role in ensuring caregivers’ voices are heard and that families are equipped to advocate for their children and navigate complex systems successfully.

Requirements

  • Must have lived experience as a parent/caregiver of a youth with special needs
  • Experience with youth with mental health needs strongly preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED and minimum 2 years’ experience with children/adolescents/TAY
  • Associate degree in a human services field and 1 year relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a human services field and 1 year relevant experience
  • Experience navigating child- and family-serving systems (schools, behavioral health, etc.)
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to engage families without judgment and build trusting relationships
  • Knowledge of community resources and culturally responsive services
  • Ability to support families in crisis and high‑stress situations
  • Team‑oriented with the ability to work independently in the field
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance, coaching, and support to caregivers navigating their child’s needs and services
  • Help caregivers articulate youth strengths, needs, and goals within the Care Planning Team (CPT)
  • Engage families in home and community‑based activities aligned with Individual Care Plans
  • Support caregivers in developing self‑care strategies and connecting to peer supports and resources
  • Attend meetings (IEPs, treatment teams, hospital discharges, etc.) and assist with transition planning
  • Participate in and, when appropriate, facilitate Care Planning Team meetings
  • Conduct weekly in‑person home visits and provide ongoing telephone support
  • Provide transportation to families as needed
  • Maintain professional boundaries and ethical standards at all times
  • Participate in weekly supervision (administrative, clinical, and group supervision)
  • Complete timely and accurate documentation including progress notes and treatment goals
