About The Position

As a Family Partner, you’ll use your lived experience as a parent, guardian or caregiver of a child with emotional, behavioral or mental health needs to provide meaningful peer support to families navigating similar challenges. You’ll partner with families, youth, Wraparound Specialists, service providers and community organizations to help families identify their strengths, understand available resources, advocate for their needs and work toward their individual goals and vision.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent, required
  • Successful completion of the Certified Recovery Peer Specialist certification within 12 months of hire, required
  • Experience as the primary caregiver of a child with a mental or behavioral health disorder, whether as a biological, adoptive or foster parent/caregiver, required
  • Experience as a consumer of family services, allowing you to successfully advocate for families and connect them with resources, required
  • Experience navigating behavioral health, child welfare and/or juvenile justice systems to support a wellness and recovery-oriented lifestyle, required
  • Florida Driver’s License within 30 days of hire
  • Daily access to a reliable, insured vehicle

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree from an accredited college or university, preferred
  • Current Certified Recovery Peer Specialist certification through the Florida Certification Board, preferred
  • Peer-to-peer work or volunteer experience, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Build supportive relationships with parents, caregivers and youth through shared experiences, encouragement and peer-to-peer support.
  • Meet directly with families to identify strengths, needs, goals and resources that support their family vision.
  • Facilitate and participate in Family Team Meetings alongside Wraparound Specialists, helping ensure the family’s perspective, choices and priorities remain at the center of planning.
  • Empower families and youth to confidently communicate their needs, concerns and goals.
  • Connect families with valuable community resources, behavioral health services and support systems.
  • Collaborate with service providers, schools, the Department of Children and Families and behavioral health partners to coordinate culturally and linguistically responsive services.
  • Maintain meaningful involvement with parents and caregivers throughout their child’s planning process.
  • Participate in community meetings and family-support initiatives, including Federation of Families and Wrap Café.
  • Maintain accurate client records and program documentation while protecting confidentiality and following HIPAA requirements.
  • Provide transportation for clients when appropriate to support the family's plan of care.
