About The Position

The Family Partner is responsible for engaging and partnering with families, individuals, and community members to promote family well-being, strengthen protective factors, and support families in achieving self-identified goals. The Family Partner provides voluntary, prevention-focused support through information, education, referrals, family activities, community resources, advocacy, and connections to informal and formal supports. Family Partners establish trusting relationships with families and community partners and serve as a welcoming presence at the Family Success Center and throughout the community. Responsibilities include conducting Welcome Tours, providing information and referrals, facilitating and supporting family and parent-child activities, conducting outreach and family recruitment, supporting parent leadership, assisting with community events, and connecting families to resources that promote stability and well-being. The Family Partner works collaboratively with the Volunteer/Community Partnership Coordinator and other FSC staff to support meaningful parent engagement and leadership opportunities. The Family Partner also assists in identifying community needs and developing programs and activities that respond to the interests and priorities of families.

Requirements

  • Associates and or Bachelor's Degree in Human Services, Social Work, Family Studies, Psychology, Education, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of experience working with children, families, individuals, and/or communities in a human services, family support, prevention, education, or related setting preferred.
  • Experience engaging families and/or facilitating community-based programs preferred.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and communities preferred.
  • Valid New Jersey driver's license and regular access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Must be willing and able to attend required trainings, meetings, conferences, and professional development activities, including occasional activities outside of the local area.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English and Spanish.
  • Knowledge of community resources and services.
  • Knowledge of family strengths, protective factors, family development, and prevention practices.
  • Understanding of strengths-based and family-centered approaches.
  • Ability to build trusting and respectful relationships with families and community members.
  • Ability to engage families in identifying their own strengths, priorities, interests, and goals.
  • Ability to conduct welcoming and informal family conversations and identify appropriate resources and supports.
  • Ability to provide information and referrals based on family-identified needs and preferences.
  • Ability to facilitate family, parent, and parent-child activities.
  • Ability to recruit and engage families and community participants.
  • Ability to support parent leadership and meaningful family participation.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with community partners.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to document services, contacts, participation, referrals, and outcomes accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Ability to accurately document family contacts, services, participation, referrals, and outcomes using our intake forms.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft 365, Canva, Excel, and AI tools.
