About The Position

The Crownpoint Health Care Facility serves a population of 20,000 Navajo people. The staff consists of primary care physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners at a 32-bed hospital. The daily inpatient load is nine; daily outpatient visits are 151; annual OB cases are 275; and annual ER cases number about 5,500. There is a shortage of permanent medical providers in the remote Crownpoint Service Unit currently, especially for our fast-track Emergency Room (formerly referred to as Urgent Care). These vacancies are being filled through the use of contract providers. This contract will require services at the Emergency Room at the Crownpoint Healthcare facility, the Adult Ambulatory Care Clinic in Crownpoint, or at either satellite locations at the Thoreau Health Station or the Pueblo Pintado Health Clinic.

Requirements

• Must have a Master's degree or Doctorate in nursing.
• Must have a current and unrestricted license in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.
• Must have certification through the AANP.
• Must have a current Basic Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
• Must have a minimum of one year of experience in the clinical areas of primary care.

Responsibilities

• Provide a full scope of medical services to include patients of all ages.
• Provide a full range of outcome-based nurse practitioner services (e.g., supervise general screening and medical care and examinations of patients for routine, acute, and chronic conditions involving all organ systems; provide immunizations, diagnose, treat, and counsel patients as indicated).
• Provide medical care services for Ambulatory services in the Emergency Room setting, including providing direct care to patients of all ages with a variety of medical, surgical, pediatric, geriatric, gynecological, and health maintenance needs.
• Be responsible and accountable for the assessment, diagnosis, and management of patient problems, including the prescription of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions.
• Order diagnostic and therapeutic tests and procedures, perform those tests and procedures when using health care equipment, and interpret and use the results of diagnostic and therapeutic tests and procedures ordered by the advanced practice registered nurse or another health care professional.
• Order treatments, order, or apply appropriate medical devices, and use nursing, medical, therapeutic, and corrective measures to treat illness and improve health status.
• Provide advanced counseling, patient education, health education, and patient advocacy.
