About The Position

The Nurse Practitioner will provide a full scope of medical services to patients of all ages at the Quentin Burdick Memorial Healthcare Facility Unit in Belcourt, North Dakota. This role involves providing a full range of outcome-based nurse practitioner services, including supervising general screening, medical care, and examinations for routine, acute, and chronic conditions. The NP will diagnose, treat, and counsel patients, and provide medical care services in the Emergency Room setting for patients of all ages with various medical, surgical, pediatric, geriatric, gynecological, and health maintenance needs. The NP will be responsible and accountable for the assessment, diagnosis, and management of patient problems, including prescribing pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions. The scope of practice includes ordering and interpreting diagnostic and therapeutic tests, performing tests using healthcare equipment, ordering treatments, applying medical devices, and using nursing, medical, therapeutic, and corrective measures. The FNP will NOT participate in on-call duties for general admissions or inpatient care; patients requiring admission will be directed to the on-call physician.

Requirements

  • Must have a Master's degree or Doctorate in nursing.
  • Must have a current and unrestricted license in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.
  • Must have certification through the AANP.
  • Must have a current Basic Life Support certification.
  • Must have a minimum of one year of experience in the clinical areas of primary care.

Nice To Haves

  • ACLS/PALS and NRP is recommended but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a full scope of medical services to patients of all ages at the Quentin Burdick Memorial Healthcare Facility Unit.
  • Provide a full range of outcome-based nurse practitioner services.
  • Supervise general screening and medical care and examinations of patients for routine, acute, and chronic conditions involving all organ systems.
  • Provide immunizations.
  • Diagnose, treat, and counsel patients as indicated.
  • Provide medical care services for Ambulatory services in the Emergency Room setting.
  • Provide direct care to patients of all ages with a variety of medical, surgical, pediatric, geriatric, gynecological, and health maintenance needs.
  • Be responsible and accountable for the assessment, diagnosis, and management of patient problems, including the prescription of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions.
  • Order diagnostic and therapeutic tests and procedures.
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic tests and procedures when using health care equipment.
  • Interpret and use the results of diagnostic and therapeutic tests and procedures.
  • Order treatments.
  • Order or apply appropriate medical devices.
  • Use nursing, medical, therapeutic, and corrective measures to treat illness and improve health status.
  • Provide advanced counseling, patient education, health education, and patient advocacy.
  • NOT participate in on call for general admissions of patients.
  • NOT be expected to do admissions and inpatient care.
  • Direct any patient under their care who needs admission to the on-call physician.
