About The Position

Solano Family & Children’s Services creates connections for families and child care providers to support the healthy development of children for a thriving community. The Family Navigator – Developmental Screener will conduct developmental screenings for children ages 0–5 years, connect families to services when concerns are identified, provide follow-up to ensure access to care, perform outreach efforts to promote screenings, coordinate screening events, and train child care providers on screening tools.

Requirements

Proficient in Microsoft Office Products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as internet experience
Knowledge of early childhood development and milestones for ages 0–5.
Ability to administer and interpret standardized screening tools (e.g., ASQ-3, ASQ:SE).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate, family-centered approach.
Ability to connect families to resources, coordinate referrals, and navigate service systems.
Able to develop and maintain positive working relationships with community partners and providers.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and cases.
Ability to track, analyze, and report program data accurately.
Experience or ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners.
Problem-solving skills to address barriers to service access.
Ability to work independently and lead program coordination efforts.
Knowledge of confidentiality and handling sensitive information with discretion.
A minimum of two years experience using a computer database program, internet experience, or equivalent combination of related education and experience
Bilingual Spanish required

Nice To Haves

Minimum one year experience working with families, in an educational or social service setting, call center, or similar community resource service preferred
A.A. degree in Child Development or E.C.E., or at least 12 Core Units of Early Childhood Education/Child Development preferred

Responsibilities

Conduct developmental screenings for children ages 0 to 5 years of age utilizing the ASQ3 (developmental) and ASQ-SE (social emotional) screening tools.
Review and explain screening results with families in a clear, supportive, and culturally responsive manner.
Coordinate referrals to early intervention and other appropriate services as needed.
Provide follow-up with families and service providers to ensure children successfully access services.
Support families with complex needs by navigating community systems and connecting them to appropriate resources.
Provide education and information on early childhood development and activities to support the building of age-appropriate skills.
Develop and deliver training and technical assistance to child care providers on the use and implementation of developmental screening tools.
Provide data and reports regarding developmental/social-emotional screenings monthly/quarterly.
Lead screening coordination efforts in accordance with funding requirements.
Advocate for the needs of children and families around early childhood development and create awareness of the importance of school readiness.
