About The Position

The Zuni Service Unit, located within the Zuni Indian Reservation in New Mexico, serves as a cornerstone of healthcare for the Zuni Pueblo community. This vital facility, operated by the Indian Health Service, offers comprehensive medical services, including primary care, dental, behavioral health, and emergency care, all tailored to meet the unique needs of the Zuni population. Requirements

  • Completion of a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).
  • Current, active, and unrestricted Physician license in any U.S. state or the District of Columbia.
  • Current DEA license.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of documented clinical experience in a Family Practice or Primary Care setting.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts thorough medical assessments, including taking medical histories, performing physical examinations, and ordering and interpreting appropriate laboratory and radiological studies.
  • Formulates diagnoses and develops patient care plans, and clearly communicates with patients and their families about medical conditions and treatment options.
  • Supports patients and their families during illness, providing compassionate care and guidance.
  • Maintains accurate, comprehensive patient records that meet regulatory standards, detailing each patient's care and treatment activities.
  • Identifies cases that require specialized care and facilitates referrals or coordinates hospital admissions as necessary.
  • Provides inpatient rounds and develops care plans for hospitalized patients as needed; participate in on-call duties as required.
  • Performs comprehensive health examinations, diagnoses medical conditions, and prescribes or implements necessary treatments.
  • Collaborates with the business office and credentialing staff to maintain current Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance, and other professional registrations.
  • Works with clinical staff on scheduling to ensure adequate provider coverage.
  • Adheres to the assigned scope of duties and follows work assignments from the Clinical Director.
  • Documents patient care and findings in accordance with The Joint Commission (TJC) standards and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) regulations.
