About The Position

Spectrum Healthcare Resources is seeking a dedicated Family Medicine Physician (FMD) to join our Fairfax Ambulatory Care Center. This role involves delivering comprehensive care, including preventative, acute, and chronic care for assigned patients, as well as supporting other providers. The physician will conduct general medical examinations, promote preventive health, diagnose and manage complex conditions, prescribe medications, and interpret diagnostic tests. Additionally, the role includes providing prescription renewals, telephonic consultations, and mentoring other healthcare providers. Participation in professional development and staff meetings is also expected.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) from an accredited U.S. or Canadian medical school; foreign medical graduates must have ECFMG certification.
  • Completion of accredited post-graduate medical training (internship and residency) in Internal Medicine.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine.
  • Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
  • Current unrestricted DEA certificate.
  • Minimum of one year of experience within the last three years as a Family Practice Provider.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Knowledge of computer operations and proficiency in word processing, data entry, and electronic medical records.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver preventative, acute, and chronic care for patients assigned to your panel, and support other providers’ patients during high-volume periods or absences.
  • Conduct general medical examinations for routine, acute, and chronic conditions across all organ systems.
  • Promote preventive health and maintenance care, including physicals, immunizations, and patient education on positive health behaviors.
  • Document all outpatient and inpatient encounters accurately in the EMR system in accordance with Army regulations and FHC policies.
  • Diagnose, treat, and manage patients with complex conditions, including diabetes, hypertension, asthma, arthritis, and cancer.
  • Prescribe medications per protocols, educate patients on proper use and side effects, and maintain accurate records.
  • Order, evaluate, and interpret radiology and laboratory tests; refer to specialty clinics as appropriate.
  • Provide prescription renewals and telephonic consultative services.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to other healthcare providers, including nurses, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants.
  • Participate in professional development, staff meetings, in-service training, and other duties as assigned.
