About The Position

OHSU Family Medicine provides comprehensive family medicine care, from maternity through geriatrics, serving over 120,000 patients annually. Our physicians, nurses, and staff are dedicated to knowing patients and their families by name, offering a high level of care recognized by U.S. News and World Report. The department supports a broad scope of practice, including care for all ages, pregnant patients, substance use disorder treatment with medication-assisted treatment, and gender-affirming care. The Appointee will provide services as assigned by their supervisor, contributing to the university's missions in teaching, research, patient care, outreach, and public service. The role involves developing a vibrant clinical and academic practice, participating in continuing education, professional development, and scholarship. The position requires previous primary care experience. The Appointee will see patients in clinic for eight half-days per week, with two half-days allocated for administrative and scholarship duties. Patient visit targets are 8-10 per half-day, depending on complexity. One half-day per week is dedicated to scholarship, and another half-day is for teaching and administrative tasks. The Appointee will also serve as a team physician in the community. Inpatient and obstetrical care are optional. Faculty members are expected to actively participate in committees, attend faculty meetings, and engage in professional development. Documentation will be done using the electronic health record. Teaching activities include resident and student precepting, and didactics. The position may include inpatient care and call duties at OHSU and/or HMC, shared with the faculty inpatient call group. Expanded access hours, including evenings and weekends, and call coverage are expected. The Appointee will rotate through all Family Medicine clinics, including Immediate Care clinics.

Requirements

  • Previous work experience in primary care is required.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible.
  • Licensed in Oregon.
  • M.D./D.O.
  • Graduate medical education in an ACGME accredited Family Medicine Residency.
  • Capable of providing comprehensive health services.
  • Certified to prescribe.
  • Eligible for staff privileges at OHSU University Hospital, Hillsboro Medical Center Hospital and other specific community hospitals.

Nice To Haves

  • Inpatient (medicine/pediatric) service and obstetrical care are optional, not required.
  • By mutual agreement between the Department and the physician, this position may include Inpatient Care (at OHSU and/or HMC) with call duties being shared with the faculty inpatient call group.

Responsibilities

  • Provide full spectrum family medicine care.
  • Work collaboratively with full and part time faculty to maintain an active practice.
  • Provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service.
  • Develop the practice into a vibrant clinical and academic operation, successful from both a professional and business point of view.
  • Participate in continuing education, professional and faculty development and scholarship.
  • See patients in clinic eight half days per week.
  • Utilize two half days per week for administrative duties/scholarship duties.
  • See 8-10 patients per half day depending on complexity.
  • Receive one half day per week for scholarship.
  • Receive one half day per week for a combination of teaching and completion of administrative tasks.
  • Be involved in the community in the role of team physician.
  • Participate in continuing education, professional and faculty development, and scholarship as directed by the Department of Family Medicine.
  • Take an active role in the committee structure of the School of Medicine, attend faculty meetings, and participate in faculty and professional development programs.
  • Document using the electronic health record and maintain complete and timely patient care documentation consistent with OHSU and Family Medicine policies and procedures.
  • Be available for teaching activities including but not limited to resident precepting, student precepting, didactics and more.
  • Participate in seeing patients during expanded access hours in the clinic, including evenings and weekends, and call coverage.
  • Rotate with all Family Medicine clinics (Gabriel Park, Richmond, South Waterfront, Scappoose, and Beaverton Clinic(s)) including Immediate Care clinics.
