About The Position

Capital Health is seeking a Core Faculty position for Family Medicine. This role will be direct clinical 40% of the time. The physician shall assume all responsibilities and perform all services and duties required of a Core Faculty Physician by the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education (“ACGME”), and shall also serve as a Core Faculty Physician in the Program. The physician shall dedicate her time as a Core Faculty Physician to indirect patient care, administrative, and educational requirements of residency. The physician shall work with the Program Director of the Program on the development, implementation, and update of the Program curriculum to meet the six (6) Clinical Competencies and the Reporting Milestones of Family Medicine or other requirements as amended by ACGME. The physician shall teach and supervise family medicine residents based on the six (6) competencies and milestones in family medicine as described by the ACGME. The physician shall work with the Program Director to ensure quality of didactic and clinical education in all sites where education takes place. The physician shall assist Capital Health in meeting the accreditation standards of Det Norske Veritas (“DNV”) and such other accrediting or licensing bodies as may exist. The physician shall assist with implementing policies and procedures consistent with an ACGME program and Capital Health requirements. The physician shall ensure that all services performed are of the highest type and quality consistent with the facilities available and prevailing conditions, that such services are conducted in accordance with the standards of ethics and practice prescribed by the Medical Staff of Capital Health, the New Jersey Board of Medical Examiners, the New Jersey Department of Health, the Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine, the American Medical Association, ACGME, and the DNV, and that such services are provided in a manner consistent with the standards of practice in the community and the requirements of law and applicable regulations. The physician shall carry out the duties and perform the services in a manner consistent with the bylaws, policies, rules and regulations of Capital Health, its Medical Staff, the Department of Medicine, and the Program. The physician shall use best efforts to ensure that all individuals who fall within the Physician’s professional supervision shall likewise carry out their duties and perform their services pursuant to the said bylaws, policies, rules and regulations of Capital Health, Medical Staff, the Department of Medicine, and the Program. The physician shall be available and accessible to residents and shall be a resident advisor to up to six (6) residents at a time within the Program. The physician shall participate in academic societies to enhance educational and administrative skills. The physician shall serve on Capital Health or Capital Health Medical Staff Committees as may be requested by the Program Director. The physician shall conduct and/or supervise all instructional programs relating to the Program as may be required. The physician shall maintain, supervise, and/or assist in the maintenance of proper records with respect to the professional and administrative services rendered within the Program. The physician shall have a clinical schedule based upon the needs of the Program and the mutual agreement of the Physician and the CPE of Capital Health. The physician shall promote other duties and responsibilities ordinarily associated with the position of Faculty Physician, as defined by the Residency Review Committee and the ACGME and as assigned by Capital Health. Under the supervision of the Program Director, the physician shall have responsibility for precepting residents in outpatient practice, meeting with resident advisees, participating in academic or professional development conferences, completing resident evaluations, modeling professionalism and well-being, engaging in self-directed learning, completing resident reports, providing answering service phone calls, providing didactic sessions, supervising resident scholarly activity, and being an active member/leader of committees. The physician will also participate in faculty development activities and attend outside educational or professional development conferences.

Requirements

  • Precept one to four (1-4) residents in the outpatient practice at least once weekly and complete associated precepting tasks.
  • Regularly meet with resident advisees to ensure compliance with their milestones, and as needed, be actively involved in remediation plans.
  • Actively participate in any academic or professional development conference(s) as designated by the Program Director.
  • Complete all resident evaluations in a timely fashion and provide verbal feedback to the residents.
  • Model professionalism and well-being for the residents.
  • Engage in self-directed learning and professional growth.
  • Participate in completion of resident reports.
  • Provide answering service phone call at least, on average, every 5th week.
  • Provide on average one (1) didactic monthly.
  • Supervise resident scholarly activity.
  • Be an active member and/or leader of the Program’s Clinical Competency Committee and Program Evaluation Committee.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled weekly core faculty meetings.
  • Participate in faculty development activities offered by the Program and GME.
  • Attend one (1) outside educational or professional development conference per academic year for faculty development.
  • Engage in Scholarly Activity, including but not limited to local and national conference presentations, peer-reviewed publications, and book chapters.
  • Perform other duties as agreed upon with the Program Director.
