They evaluate, treat, and help prevent illnesses and injuries that occur regularly in the general population. They may refer patients to specialists when needed for further diagnosis or treatment. Family Medicine Advanced Practice Providers work at various clinics and locations across Denver Health.
Requirements
- Master's Degree Required
- RN-Registered Nurse - DORA - Department of Regulatory Agencies Required
- PA-Physician Assistant - State Medical Board Required or PAC-Certified Physician Assistant - NCCPA - National Commission for Certifying Agencies Required
- DEAREG-DEA Registration - DEA - Drug Enforcement Agency Required
- BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association or American Red Cross Required
- NP-Nurse Practitioner - DORA - Department of Regulatory Agencies Required
- NP-Nurse Practitioner - AANPCB - American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board Required or FNPBC-Family Nurse Practitioner Certification - AANPCB - American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board Required
- Has adequate knowledge and skill of all privileged procedures as outlined in the Denver Health Advanced Practice Provider Ambulatory Care Clinical Privileges documentation
- Computer skills required.
Responsibilities
- Under the direction of a physician, admit, evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide consultation to patients of all ages with acute and chronic illnesses, including major and complicated, and perform procedures learned in training. (30%)
- Provide preventative and therapeutic care for patients of all ages. This includes admit patients, preventative care, acute care, prenatal care, care of injured persons, management of chronic illnesses, and performance of procedures learned in training. (30%)
- Supervise house staff in providing care for all ages in ambulatory and inpatient settings. (20%)
- Performs privileged procedures as outlined in the Denver Health Advanced Practice Provider Ambulatory Care Clinical Privileges documentation. (20%)
- Participates in clinical education of healthcare students as seen fit by the supervising medical staff (0%)
