About The Position

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northeast Ohio, Inc. (RMHC NEO) is seeking a highly motivated individual with passion, compassion, and dedication as the Family Meal Program Manager to support the Akron Ronald McDonald House. This role manages the day-to-day functions of the Family Meal Program, including preparing healthy menus, ensuring kitchen sanitation and maintenance, and supervising volunteers. The position involves collaboration with RMHC NEO staff and volunteers to achieve organizational goals and provide essential services to families. The Family Meal Program Manager acts as an organizational ambassador, presenting a positive image of RMHC NEO.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 3-5 years of related experience
  • One or more years of experience supervising others
  • ServSafe certification preferable
  • Familiarity with use of commercial kitchen equipment and with the maintenance protocols required to maintain proper operations of the kitchen equipment.
  • Computer proficiency, including familiarity with MS Office products and database software and ability to learn organization-specific software.
  • Competent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills to provide instructions to others.
  • Excellent skills in organization, planning, time management, decision-making, and problem solving.
  • High ethical standards and the ability to operate in a fiscally responsible manner.
  • Ability and willingness to perform food preparation, and/or food service tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and serving food when necessary.
  • Ability to respect and show hospitality to guests from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable means of transportation for local travel.
  • Must have minimum insurance liability coverage of $100,000/person and $300,000/occurrence and $100,000 property damage; or $300,000 combined single limit for bodily injury and property damage.

Nice To Haves

  • One or more years of experience in a position working closely with groups, volunteers, or teams strongly preferred.
  • Restaurant or hospitality experience preferred.
  • Culinary Diploma or Associate’s degree or higher in food management, hospitality, or related field a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that the activities of this position are consistent with the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of the organization.
  • Ensures that the Family Meal Program provides meals and services to families as scheduled or as established by each program.
  • Establishes and ensures that food safety and sanitation procedures are followed. Trains volunteers and staff on these procedures and other meal program functions.
  • Oversees volunteer groups who are preparing meal services at the Ronald McDonald House, per established goals. Welcomes these groups and provides high level overview of the organization. Orients these groups, directing them in their tasks. Assists with meal preparation as needed.
  • Controls food storage and usage by planning menus and strategically overseeing inventory, product storage procedures, food/kitchen supply orders, and intake and storage of food and wish list donations. Schedules maintenance for kitchen equipment.
  • Ensures that the kitchen and service areas are sanitized and cleaned based on industry standards. Establishes and ensures that proper food storage guidelines are followed to store leftover food.
  • Reviews and approves the meal program calendar across all platforms in use.
  • Collaborates with responsible parties to confirm that volunteers are scheduled as needed and to ensure that accurate, timely input of all volunteer groups and their service is entered into the donor database.
  • Seeks feedback from families by administering surveys regularly to determine the quality of the Family Meal Program and implement changes as needed.
  • Ensures that photos are taken of all groups, downloaded, labeled, and shared with Marketing and Development.
  • Assists with external events (such as tabling events, activity/volunteer fairs, corporate events, etc.) and RMHC NEO activities/events as requested.
  • Attends trainings to increase knowledge or awareness of organizational or departmental trends and changes. Attends meetings as requested.
  • Establishes priorities for managing own work while staying on a focused, efficient path for achieving results.
  • Acts as organizational ambassador and presents a positive image of RMHC NEO.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned.
