The Family Intervention Specialist (Homebuilders Specialist) works with families involved with the child welfare system in the Triad Region of North Carolina. The primary goal is to remove the risk of harm to children, thereby preventing out-of-home placement. This evidence-based Intensive Family Preservation Service (IFPS) model involves providing in-home counseling, prevention, crisis intervention, and life skills services to families with children aged birth to 17 years old. Services are intensive, with parents/caregivers meeting with a Practitioner three to five times a week for approximately 40 hours over a 4 to 6 week period. The program emphasizes small caseloads and program intensity to ensure child safety, with services available 24 hours a day. The role requires the specialist to live within the assigned region and be available 24/7 on-call to clients, with supervisor backup.
