About The Position

The Family Engagement Specialist (FES) communicates with customers regarding eligibility issues, documentation requirements, customer complaints, and actions taken by Child Care Services (CCS) regarding their case. The FES also provides information about the CCS program, early childhood development resources, and other community-based resources. The role involves performing quality assurance reviews of the eligibility determination process, including reviewing and verifying records and performing mathematical calculations based on documented data. The FES works in an office environment, requiring organization, professionalism, courteous communication, and collaboration with team members and management. Sensitivity towards working with diverse cultures and clear, assertive communication are essential. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.

Requirements

  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to write clear and accurate correspondence.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of (2) years working in public relations with students, families, and community members in underserved communities.
  • Minimum of (1) year of teaching experience in PK-12th grade or experience with adult learning.
  • Minimum of (2) years of successful coordination and implementation of a program across multiple locations/buildings/campuses.
  • Minimum of (2) years working in student mental health field as a counselor or social worker.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes rapport and credibility with customers and providers by providing excellent customer service in a professional and respectful manner.
  • Communicates with customers regarding eligibility issues, documentation requirements, customer complaints, actions taken by Child Care Services (CCS) regarding their case, and information about the CCS program.
  • Communicates with customers information regarding early childhood development and community-based resources available to customers.
  • Performs Quality Assurance reviews of customer eligibility by reviewing the customer documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Performs mathematical calculations to determine the parent’s income and share of cost.
  • Enters all data into databases in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Enters data into databases as directed.
  • Maintains accurate customer files in specific order and completeness.
  • Takes immediate action to address and resolve customer and provider complaints.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned.
