Family Engagement Specialist
About The Position
Crittenton Children’s Center in Kansas City, MO is seeking a Family Engagement Specialist to join their team. This is an intake position into the field of child welfare. The position provides an opportunity to help families visit, enhance their parenting skills, and reunify. The role involves utilizing evidence-based programming focusing on Attachment, Self-Regulation, and Competency through classroom curriculum. Responsibilities include providing classroom educational trainings and one-on-one parenting instruction to biological parents, distributing pre and post-testing, presenting outcome information to the program director, providing monthly written progress notes and comprehensive quarterly reports for court, researching community resources, and connecting families with services based on their needs. The role also includes supervising parent-child visits ordered by the court, transporting children to and from visitation, and weekly communication with case managers and resource providers regarding visit progress and concerns.
Requirements
- 2 years of applicable experience
- Must be an independent worker
- Willingness to be flexible with work hours based upon the needs of the families they serve
Responsibilities

- Distribute pre and post testing to all participants in Family Engagement Program
- Present outcome information to program director
- Provide monthly written progress notes on families assigned
- Provide comprehensive quarterly reports for court
- Research area community resources and connect families based upon their need
- Supervise parent child visits ordered by the court
- Transport children to and from visitation
- Weekly communication with case manager and resource provider regarding the progress of visits, concerns and any noted changes
- Pick up child/children from their placements and transport them to an agreed upon location to supervise a visit with their parents
- Return child/children to their placements
- Note observations of the visits in weekly visit reports
- Complete a monthly summary of visits
- Provide 1 hour of parent education weekly on each case
