About The Position

Crittenton Children’s Center in Kansas City, MO is seeking a Family Engagement Specialist to join their team. This is an intake position into the field of child welfare. The position provides an opportunity to help families visit, enhance their parenting skills, and reunify. The role utilizes evidence-based programming focusing on Attachment, Self-Regulation, and Competency through classroom curriculum. Responsibilities include providing classroom educational trainings to biological parents, one-on-one parenting instruction and education, distributing pre and post testing, presenting outcome information to the program director, providing monthly written progress notes and comprehensive quarterly reports for court, researching area community resources and connecting families based on their needs, supervising parent-child visits ordered by the court, and transporting children to and from visitation. Weekly communication with the case manager and resource provider regarding visit progress, concerns, and any noted changes is also required. The main activity involves picking up child/children from their placements, transporting them to an agreed-upon location to supervise a visit with their parents, and then returning the child/children to their placements. Observations of visits will be noted in weekly visit reports, and a monthly summary will be completed. One hour of parent education will be provided weekly on each case.

Requirements

  • 2 years applicable experience
