Family Engagement Specialist
About The Position
Easterseals Vermont is the leading agency in the state in working hand-in-hand with the Department for Children and Families (DCF) to find family-centered solutions that promote child welfare and create safety and well-being. This role involves doing meaningful, mission-driven work with families and offers a good work-life balance and a family-friendly environment. The Family Engagement Specialist will facilitate family meetings and provide in-home support to strengthen families. Responsibilities include coaching parents to have safe and nurturing time with their children in DCF custody, supporting them to meet their children's needs, and calling extended family members to explore familial support and create genograms. The agency has separate and comfortable offices, distinct from the Department of Children and Families. Candidates should understand complex issues facing families, including past trauma, substance use disorders, domestic violence, mental health issues, and generational poverty. Extensive training and supervision are provided.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or related field preferred
- Two years of human services experience preferred
- Strong interpersonal, communication and writing skills
- Valid driver's license
- Clean driving record
- Ability to pass a background check
- Own reliable vehicle with insurance that meets coverage limits
