About The Position

The Central Missouri Foster Care & Adoption Association is a not-for-profit agency that educates, supports, and advocates for foster, adoptive, & kinship children, youth, & families in central Missouri by offering services & partnering with community & governmental agencies to develop healthy & self-sufficient individuals & families. Currently, we are assisting over 640 foster families, over 1400 foster children, over 400 adopted children in our service area. Our goal is to be a support to the families, children and youth in this area, and we work tirelessly to provide much needed services to them. The Family Development Program has three major components: intake, assessing, and training. We offer support and services to families interested in fostering/adopting, and to foster, adoptive, and kinship families. All team members will be trained in each category, however hired with a specific focus in training or assessing. The purpose of this role is to support, guide, educate, and prepare individuals that are interested in becoming foster, adoptive, kinship, and/or respite caregivers. As a trainer, the employee will be competent in teaching a variety of curriculums that are required and/or recommended by the Children’s Division and partnering agencies. The training is provided, but further the comprehension and application of the material is thoroughly discussed and evaluated.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice, English, Journalism, Communications or related field
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient results on typing test (link will be provided)
  • Ability to obtain required training certificates
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Punctuality and flexibility in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to promote teamwork
  • Valid Driver’s License Required
  • Reliable transportation Required
  • Background checks Required

Nice To Haves

  • Case management, 1 year (preferred)
  • Knowledge of foster care system (preferred)
  • Strong public speaking experience

Responsibilities

  • Teach a variety of curriculums required and recommended by the Children’s Division and partnering agencies.
  • Ensure comprehensive understanding and application of training materials through interactive sessions and assessments.
  • Facilitate state-required educational trainings for families seeking licensure for foster/adopt or kinship care.
  • Develop new and engaging activities tailored to enhance training effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with licensing agencies to maintain compliance with state regulations and educational standards.
  • Provide ongoing support and guidance to prospective caregivers throughout the licensure process.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of training sessions and participant progress.
