About The Position

Unity House of Troy’s Domestic Violence program is seeking a Family Court Advocate to assist victims and families navigating the family court legal system. The role supports the court filing process and proceedings, advocates for individuals and families in court, speaks on behalf of victims of domestic and sexual violence, and helps connect them with community resources. The advocate develops and maintains relationships internally and externally and promotes an environment of inclusion and belonging.

Unity House is a Rensselaer County-based human service agency serving people in the community whose needs are otherwise unmet, including people living in poverty, adults living with mental illness or HIV/AIDS, victims of domestic violence, and children with developmental delays. The agency works toward social justice and greater understanding of the people it serves.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience working with victims of domestic and sexual violence.
• Valid and clean New York State driver's license.
• Must be organized, very well-spoken, and comfortable with public speaking.

Nice To Haves

• College degree in Social Services, Human Services, or Criminal Justice preferred.

Responsibilities
