About The Position

The Family Consultant partners with pregnant women, infants, toddlers, and their families through weekly home visits using a strengths-based, family-centered approach. Family Consultants empower families to identify goals, support children's development, connect with community resources, and promote healthy parent-child relationships. This role combines relationship building, child development, family support, community engagement, and documentation while working as part of a collaborative Early Head Start team.

Requirements

Home-Based Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, comparable credential, or equivalent coursework toward an associate's or bachelor's degree.
Experience working with pregnant women, infants, toddlers, and families.
Knowledge of child development and family support practices.
Ability to work effectively with culturally and linguistically diverse populations.
Strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, email, internet applications, and virtual meeting platforms.
Valid driver's license, proof of insurance, and reliable transportation.
Ability to travel throughout the service area.
Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications, including CPR, First Aid, and Food Handler's Certification.
Successful completion of required health screenings and federal background checks.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, Family Services, Counseling, Special Education, or a related field.

Responsibilities

Build trusting, respectful relationships with families.
Conduct weekly home visits focused on child development, family well-being, and school readiness.
Support expectant families as they prepare for the birth of their child.
Help families identify strengths, set goals, and celebrate progress.
Encourage family leadership and participation in program activities, including Policy Council.
Conduct developmental screenings and assessments.
Share learning activities families can use between home visits.
Collaborate with parents to create meaningful learning experiences within the home environment.
Monitor child growth, development, and progress toward goals.
Build relationships with community partners and service providers.
Assist families with referrals and access to needed resources.
Support successful transitions as children and families move beyond Early Head Start services.
Maintain accurate and confidential documentation.
Participate in recruitment activities, playgroups, and community outreach.
Collaborate with team members to provide high-quality services.
Participate in coaching, supervision, and professional development opportunities.
