About The Position

The Family and Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for the successful recruitment and onboarding of new students and families, as well as curating engaging activities for both new and returning families with LEAD Public Schools. This role coordinates most of the school's family and community engagement activities and is tasked with creating a robust plan to aid in student recruitment, onboarding, retention, and engagement. As one of the first points of contact for families, this role requires the ability to build genuine relationships, manage ambiguity, and implement new ideas within a team setting. The primary goal is to effectively manage campus enrollment activities to meet enrollment targets, and the secondary goal is to provide services that ensure student retention, parent satisfaction, and a school culture focused on student success and parental involvement.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalency
  • Strong project management, organizational and time management skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to quickly build trust with parents, students, and family members.
  • Outstanding customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively with people of various racial, ethnic, age, and income levels.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships at all organizational levels, and with the public.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills as well as a high degree of initiative, maturity, integrity, and good judgment.
  • Strong computer skills including high proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar applications.
  • Belief in LEAD’s mission of doing “Whatever It Takes” to graduate 100% of our students and help them gain acceptance into a four-year College or University.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference for extensive mail-merge experience, strong Excel skills, and moderate graphic design experience (Adobe or related).
  • Multilingual ability with a preference for fluency in Spanish and/or Arabic.
  • At least two years of experience preferred in Family Recruitment, Family Engagement, Community Engagement, Student Support, Front Office Management, Customer Service.
  • Flexibility to lead and attend initiatives and events on evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to build trust and drive change by forming good relationships with school and support staff.
  • Self-starter who sets high goals; is comfortable dealing with ambiguity and can handle multiple projects at once.

Responsibilities

  • Meet new student recruitment targets and track progress.
  • Create systems to track recruitment effort results.
  • Serve as the campus liaison with MNPS and its Optional Schools office for enrollment issues.
  • Manage the MNPS Optional Schools or SchoolMint Enrollment System.
  • Oversee recruitment activities to meet enrollment targets.
  • Ensure applications for new students are completed and communicate with Front Office staff for timely registration.
  • Be knowledgeable of and share information about LEAD Public Schools' new student recruitment and enrollment processes within the Nashville community.
  • Create and manage a process to support families through the enrollment and onboarding process.
  • Collaborate with the Campus Leadership Team, Manager of Family Engagement and Customer Experience, and Director of Enrollment and Family Engagement on feeder school engagement.
  • Coordinate ongoing family engagement through campus events, home visits, tours, community canvassing, and information sessions.
  • Collaborate with the other Family and Community Engagement Coordinator to build community and increase awareness of options.
  • Work with the Director of Communications to ensure a strong social networking function for students and families.
  • Collaborate with the Principal, Manager of Family Engagement and Customer Experience, and Director of Enrollment & Family Engagement to develop and execute a family engagement strategy.
  • Collaborate with the FACE team to plan and execute quarterly Network Events.
  • Plan and execute events for current and prospective students and their families.
  • Host diversity initiatives to support the engagement of diverse student populations.
  • Ensure timely administration of parent and family surveys and compile data and recommendations.
  • Support Campus Leadership in hosting Family Leadership Team Meetings, documenting sign-in sheets, attendance, and notes.
  • Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on family and community engagement projects, initiatives, and progress toward key performance indicators.
  • Support Title 1 and School Improvement Planning by sharing vital engagement information for reporting and compliance.
  • Work with the Manager of Family Engagement and Customer Experience and the Director of Enrollment and Family Engagement to maintain and evaluate geographic priority areas for engagement efforts, including feeder school outreach.
  • Collaborate with School Leadership, Counselors, the Manager of Family Engagement and Customer Experience, and the Director of Enrollment and Family Engagement to identify key community partners.
  • Develop strong relationships with community partners and bring organizations into the school to provide complementary services.
  • Support the recruitment of volunteers for network-wide initiatives.
  • Support the recruitment of parents for advocacy work across the greater Nashville area.
  • Serve as a liaison between LEAD Public Schools and the greater Nashville community, representing LEAD at community events.
  • Collaborate with the Manager of Family Engagement and Customer Experience in cultivating a comprehensive LEAD Customer Experience Journey Map.
  • Work with the Manager of Family Engagement and Customer Experience in articulating the LEAD Value Proposition.
  • Create monthly engagement for families to understand LEAD Public Schools' offerings related to Customer Experience.
  • Collaborate with the Network Engagement Team to support network initiatives for Family Resources and Support.
  • Engage current faculty and staff in family engagement initiatives to bridge the gap between faculty, staff, and families.
  • Serve as a liaison between School Leadership teams and the successful attendance of customer experience events and initiatives.
  • Regularly organize and lead school activities and events that positively impact school results and culture.
  • Connect across boundaries and work toward common goals; value others’ input and expertise; consider alternate perspectives.
