About The Position

Merakey is seeking a Family Based Therapist to join their program in Kennett Square, Chester County, PA. This role involves providing treatment services to families, including therapy, counseling, and skills training for children and families. The therapist will work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, and travel to client homes and community resources. The position focuses on intervening with families of children experiencing behavioral health problems and at risk of out-of-home placement, using an Eco-systemic Structural Family Therapy (ESFT) model. The therapist will facilitate individual and family therapy sessions, parent coaching, and crisis intervention, ensuring necessary service linkages and community supports. Therapists receive extensive training and supervision in the ESFT model.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in psychiatry, psychology, social work, nursing, education, rehabilitation or a graduate degree in the field of human services.
  • A minimum of 2 years experience in a CASSP program, with experience with children and adolescents and including direct service.
  • A valid Pennsylvania Driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours.
  • Rotating on-call is a requirement of the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience facilitating family therapy and/or crisis intervention, de-escalation is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide treatment services to families, including therapy and counseling to children and families.
  • Offer skills training and education to enable families to care for their children with mental health needs at home.
  • Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet the needs of children and families.
  • Travel to client homes, other agencies, and community resources to arrange and provide community and home-based services.
  • Facilitate individual and family therapy sessions, parent coaching, and crisis intervention.
  • Utilize an Eco-systemic Structural Family Therapy (ESFT) model to intervene with families of children experiencing behavioral health problems and at risk of out-of-home placement.
  • Ensure that every child and family have the necessary service linkages and community supports.
  • Work in collaboration with a case manager as part of an interdisciplinary team to provide time-limited intensive community-based ESFT treatment.
  • Participate in rotating on-call duties.
