About The Position

Develops and implements the family-based services program. Provides leadership, guidance and support to staff in assigned program.

Requirements

  • A graduate degree in psychiatry, psychology, social work, nursing, rehabilitation education or a graduate degree in the field of human services plus at least 3 years direct care experience with children or adolescents in the following Child and Adolescent Service System Program (CASSP) systems: Mental Health, Mental Retardation, Education, Special Education, Children and Youth, Drug and Alcohol, Juvenile Justice, Health Care and Vocational Rehabilitation, including 2 years of supervisory experiences in any program of the CASSP system.
  • Supervisory certification from the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.
  • A bachelor’s degree with a major in a field of human service plus at least 3 years direct care experience with children and adolescents in a CASSP system program and may direct a Family-Based Mental Health Program if the Department approves and the service of a clinical consultant is obtained to provide clinical support at least 3 hours of service per team per week for a program with one team plus 1 hour per team per week for each additional team.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • Significant amounts of walking, sitting, and standing.
  • Some repetitive wrist/hand movements, normal hearing and vision.
  • Occasional use of computers and office equipment.
  • Occasional driving of Devereux Strawberry Fields vehicles for business purposes.
  • Works locations include SFI office, consumers’ homes, and other appropriate public settings.
  • Some fluctuations in temperature.
  • Possible exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
  • As required annually by licensing agencies and Devereux Strawberry Fields (organization and Center-specific modules).

  • The clinical consultant may not provide direct Family-Based Mental Health Services for the provider.
  • The clinical consultant shall: Be a psychiatrist or a person with a master’s degree in a field of human services plus 3 years of direct mental health service experience in working with children and families.
  • Oversee treatment plans and other direct and indirect clinical support as assigned by the program director.

Responsibilities

  • Administers the family-based service ensuring clients receive and participate in services on a continual basis.
  • Assists and serves as back up for Family Based Services staff.
  • Makes revisions to the services provided as needed.
  • Serves in liaison capacity communicating with the County Office, agency representatives, funding agencies, individuals and their families and other stakeholders/advocates as indicated.
  • Attends required meetings.
  • Participates in assessment of individuals, the development of resiliency plans and clinical approaches.
  • Assist in the revisions of program design, resiliency approaches or individual assessments at clinical meetings.
  • Ensures proper documentation of program participation, record keeping for charts and/or referrals including current authorization, psychiatric appointments resiliency plans and progress notes.
  • Utilizes computerized individual tracking system to maintain current individual information.
  • Ensures that program staff comply with all regulatory, organizational and Center standards of care.
  • Ensures the safe and effective delivery, and documentation of resiliency services for all individuals in assigned program.
  • Provides clinical supervision to program staff.
  • Directs employees to ensure adequate staffing.
  • Interviews, selects, orients and supervises employees and/or delegates responsibility where appropriate and recommends terminations in conjunction with the Program Director and Human Resources.
  • Completes performance assessments for employees in a constructive and timely manner.
  • Offers clinical administrative supervision to each Family Based team, as well as weekly group supervision.
  • Provides clinical supervision by attending or have team video tape sessions to ensure staff is following Family Based model.
  • Participates in Quality Management activities and other duties as assigned.
  • Training and certifications remain up to date and complete.
  • All staff assessments are completed on time.
  • Supervisor must demonstrate management by walking around and on-going initiatives to retain staff including but not limited to: staff recognition, trains and develops team, demonstrates effective conflict resolution skills and directs team in a fair and supportive manner.
  • Demonstrates that corrective action and/or development plans are consistently written, adhered to and that appropriate follow up is taken.
  • Further, demonstrates that human resources policies, procedures, and practices are consistently applied.
  • Demonstrates ability to enhance supervisory / staff communications by documenting that team meetings are conducted and communication occurs consistently with direct reports.
