About The Position
A Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) Teacher instructs middle school students in essential life skills, including nutrition, culinary arts, financial literacy, child development, and interior design. They develop curriculum, manage laboratory classrooms (kitchens/sewing labs), and prepare students for independent living and career readiness.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement lesson plans covering cooking, sewing, family relations, personal finance, and consumer education.
- Maintain a safe, organized environment, particularly when supervising culinary or textile equipment.
- Grade student performance through projects, tests, and practical, hands-on demonstrations.
- Equip students with practical life skills and foster critical thinking about consumer issues and family management.
- Guide students on personal, academic, and career choices.
