About The Position

Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Northeast Ohio, Inc. (“RMHC NEO”) is looking for a highly motivated and driven individual who possesses passion, compassion, and dedication as a part-time Family & Child Program Associate for the STAR Corner (Support, Teaching, Awareness and Resources) located at Akron Children's Beeghly Campus. This Family & Child Program Associate maintains a friendly, caring atmosphere for families and children in need of supportive care services while visiting Akron Children's Beeghly Campus. This position is responsible for registering families, managing, and teaching children, ensuring that the STAR Corner is stocked with supplies, is prepared for lessons, kept clean, while upholding all STAR Corner and hospital policies, as well as providing resources or other support to families. The STAR Corner is open Monday through Friday. The established schedule would be Monday, Thursday, and Friday, 6 hours per day, for a total of 18 hours of work per week. This position reports to the STAR Corner Coordinator and supports the Hospital-Based Programs Team.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED with 2 or more years of experience working in a classroom, childcare, or pre-school setting.
  • Demonstrate responsibility to uphold STAR Corner policies and procedures.
  • Good communication skills and ability to interact efficiently as a team member.
  • Computer proficiency, including familiarity with all MS Office products and database software.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license or State ID.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or Degree’s in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Education/Special Education or Family Studies is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts all activities in a manner consistent with the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of the organization.
  • Registers new families and orients visitors/children to the STAR Corner.
  • Familiarizes families with the Corner's policies and procedures to be enforced when necessary.
  • Answers telephones.
  • Maintains statistical records.
  • Works with visitors/children on age-appropriate lessons involving healthy habits, medical procedures, positive peer socialization and some school readiness skills.
  • Provides each family with take home lesson information “takeaways” and other supporting materials to promote a greater awareness of community resources to help impact future well-being.
  • Provides a satisfaction survey to each family served.
  • Offers resources to families.
  • Keeps Corner neat and clean to provide a comfortable environment to visitors.
  • Picks up and delivers supplies to the STAR Corner as needed.
  • Informs supervisor of program needs and situational updates.
  • Ensures database (family information) and statistical (Usage Report) records and completed by the 5th business day of the month.
  • Assists with training, shadowing, and onboarding of new staff and volunteers.
  • Help provide a warm, friendly, and supportive atmosphere for families and visitors.
  • Assists in the collection of family stores and photos and securing thank you notes from families for marketing/development purposes.
  • Contribute articles to the RMH eNewsletter.
  • Participates in hospital and other program meetings when requested.
  • Establishes priorities for managing your own work while staying on a focused, efficient path for achieving results.
  • Acts as an organizational ambassador and presents a positive image of RMHC NEO.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned.
