About The Position

The Families First of Michigan (FFM) Program Supervisor is responsible for providing supervision to the team of FFM Workers. The FFM Program Supervisor is also responsible for directly servicing cases. This role is for an individual passionate about empowering people and making a difference in their lives, supporting the mission to provide help and create hope through innovative, collaborative, and diverse programs within the community. Catholic Charities West Michigan (CCWM) is a community-based agency providing programs in Western Michigan and offering a variety of services in family preservation, behavioral health, child welfare, and community outreach. Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Social Work or a related field is required.
  • Administrative and field experience working with families with multiple problems or clinical work experience is required.
  • Experience consisting of work with multi-problem children and families and the overall ability to relate to and engage with families is vital.
  • Knowledge of family and individual theories
  • Knowledge of treatment (intervention and technique) philosophies and strategies for home based services including a strength-based approach
  • Knowledge of the Families First of Michigan philosophy and intervention strategies
  • Knowledge of child welfare policies and programs, family therapy theories, treatment philosophies and strategies for home based services as well as knowledge and availability of local resources
  • Skilled in crisis intervention, assessment of potentially violent situations, and short-term goal setting
  • Ability to show commitment to empowering families to solve their own problems
  • Ability to work in partnership with other team members and/or service providers
  • Ability to demonstrate sensitivity and responsiveness to cultural differences present in the agency’s service population
  • Ability to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide services appropriate to families and children 0-18
  • Ability to demonstrate a conviction about an individual’s/family’s capacity to change and grow
  • Must have knowledge and skills in the area of substance abuse and domestic violence

Responsibilities

  • Oversees program operations related to family entry and participation
  • Monitors casework functioning, including reviewing and approving by signature service plans, progress reports, termination reports and case summaries
  • Takes and assigns referrals for the FFM Program
  • Provides individual supervision to FFM workers and assists workers in coordinating goal directed services to families
  • Consults with Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) for the purpose of case review, program compliance, training and other DHS issues
  • Participates in Quality Assurance Evaluation activities as designated by the DHS and/or the Family Preservation Unit. Provides reports as required by DHS
  • Attends meetings and attends mandatory trainings as outlined in the contract
  • Completes regular evaluations of Families First of Michigan workers to assess knowledge of and compliance with philosophy and intervention strategies of the Families First of Michigan model
  • Participates in screening hiring and shadowing of new FFM staff, provide and/or arranges for orientation, training, skill-building and other staff development activities
  • Ensures that agency/program policies, procedures and licensing standards are followed
  • Maintains a 24 hour, 7 days a week availability to FFM staff program referral sources
