About The Position

314 Action is a national organization dedicated to recruiting, training, and electing Democrats who are scientists and STEM professionals. Since 2016, 314 Action has become a leader in candidate recruitment and early-stage support, with significant success in flipping House seats, electing STEM professionals to office, and winning state and local races across the country. In 2024, they raised and spent over $14 million. In 2025, 107 STEM candidates were elected to local and state legislative offices. 75% of their 2026 endorsed STEM candidates identify as women, people of color, or LGBTQ+. They are currently working with over 300 STEM candidates nationwide and have endorsed over 1000 candidates in total. This internship is for Fall 2026, requires a commitment of 24-32 hours per week, and is ideal for recent graduates or current students interested in gaining experience with a national political organization or working on campaigns.

Requirements

• Strong applicants will be highly organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and have a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Knowledge of Google Drive
• Enrolled in a degree-granting institution or a recent graduate
• Excellent writing and communication skills
• Must be 18 years or older
• All interns must live in or relocate to the D.C. area (including Maryland and Virginia) for the duration of the internship.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of NGP
• Graphic design experience (ex. Canva, Photoshop, etc.)
• Experience on political campaigns and/or political organizations
• Preference will be given to students studying in STEM fields, political science, or other related fields.

Responsibilities

• Conducting development research
• Assisting in daily office operations
• Conducting candidate and demographic research
• Other various responsibilities as assigned by the internship coordinators

Benefits

• Interns are paid $18.40/hr
• We are happy to work with them to secure academic credit for their work.
• A transit benefit is available for interns as they report to the D.C. office.
• All interns receive company-issued laptops for the duration of their internships.
