About The Position

New York City Ballet's Individual Giving & Major Gifts Department is seeking an enthusiastic and responsible intern with a strong interest in gaining practical experience in development, patron relations, database management, and research. Under the mentorship of an experienced Development team member, the intern will have the opportunity to work closely with the major giving office. This role encompasses the Company’s major and directed giving efforts, planned giving operations, and the Young Patrons Circle.

Requirements

  • Must have a high level of professionalism and strong attention to detail.
  • Must be a student currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program or have graduated from such a program within the past 12 months.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and problem-solve in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Professional demeanor and attention to detail.
  • Interest in Development and Arts Administration.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office a plus (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Knowledge of NYCB is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Development team with the preparation and mailing of solicitation and acknowledgment materials
  • Correspond with patrons to support annual giving renewals, troubleshoot issues, and manage event RSVPs.
  • Support the administration of the major giving financial reconciliation.
  • Gain expertise in accurately updating the department's database (Tessitura) to enhance reporting, organization functions, and tracking of performance and event attendance.
  • Collaborate with the Development team to create email campaigns for donor acquisitions, renewals, and second asks.
  • Assist with editing and proofreading copy for acquisition appeals, renewal letters, and Playbill.
  • Work with team members to track the crediting for ballet underwriters.
  • Help the department in conducting research on leading prospects and contribute to the development of standardized research practices.
  • Along with the team members, will staff various interdepartmental events, major giving cultivation and stewardship events, Young Patrons Circle gatherings, and other events as needed.
  • Provide general administrative support to the Development department as needed.
