About The Position

The American Enterprise Institute (AEI) Coalitions team helps AEI scholars connect their research with audiences inside and outside Washington, DC. We focus on getting scholarly work from the website to the community. Interns must have a startup mentality and an ability to identify new ways to add value across the organization. The most successful interns will be interested in and familiar with AEI scholars’ work, exhibit strong writing and organizational skills, and be curious about nonprofit management and public relations. Duties will include facilitating conferences and events for AEI’s contacts in DC and across the country, writing weekly communications for core AEI constituencies, identifying opportunities to develop new partnerships with organizations around the United States, organizing constituent data, and assisting with other short- and long-term projects. Projects can include assisting with planning and executing a regional summit, maintaining contact records, researching new scholar initiatives, and collaborating with team members to brainstorming future partnerships with scholars across the institute. The Coalitions intern must be available to complete the internship in person for 25-40 hours per week. About AEI Internships AEI internships offer a unique opportunity for undergraduates, graduate students, and recent graduates to gain experience in research, writing, business, and communications at one of the nation’s leading think tanks. Competitive candidates will generally have a GPA of 3.5 or higher from a top-ranking college or university. AEI’s internship program runs for 12 weeks and all related programming will take place in-person in Washington, DC. Please see the internship program home page for updates. The fall program dates are either Tuesday, September 8, to Friday, December 4, or Tuesday, September 15, to Friday, December 11.
