About The Position

Under general supervision, this position maintains County Fairground facilities and grounds as assigned. Receives written work orders or verbal instructions from one or more supervisors. The principal duties are performed in an outdoor environment which may involve adverse weather conditions and related hazards. Grounds maintenance duties are performed according to established routines and procedures and are repetitive in nature.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of equipment and supplies used in performing grounds maintenance and janitorial duties.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions for grounds maintenance and cleaning tasks.
  • Ability to perform grounds maintenance duties using mowers, trimmers and other related equipment.
  • Ability to perform janitorial duties as needed.
  • Ability to lift and carry 40 pounds safely.
  • Ability to work independently or cooperatively as a member of a team to complete work on schedule and according to quality control standards.
  • Valid Idaho Driver’s License (or any driving positions).
  • Must be 16 years of age or older.
  • Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to communicate effectively.
  • Sufficient vision or other powers of observation, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to safely operate equipment.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to operate tools, materials and equipment involved in maintenance activities.
  • Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to work in indoor and outdoor conditions, and to perform duties including lifting and moving heavy objects, stooping, reaching, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Perform the duties of a custodian for the grounds and facilities to include collecting litter and debris.
  • Perform general landscaping duties including mowing and trimming.
  • Maintain work areas and facilities to an appropriate level of cleanliness.
  • Report potential safety hazards to Supervisor.
  • Perform all work duties and activities in accordance County policies, procedures, and safety practices.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
