About The Position

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Heersink School of Medicine (HSOM) is recruiting tenured, tenure-track, and non-tenure-earning faculty at all ranks for a strategic initiative in implementation science. Appointees will hold an academic appointment in one or more of HSOM’s 27 academic departments. The initiative builds on UAB’s research portfolio and seeks investigators whose work uses implementation and/or dissemination science to translate evidence-based practices into routine clinical, community, or public health care and improve individual and population health. Investigators with ongoing or recent work at this intersection are encouraged to apply. The HSOM Health Across the Lifecourse research focus area is aligned with the initiative, and successful applicants will join a collaborative clinical and population health research environment that includes a growing community of implementation scientists and numerous relevant centers and institutes. Recruited scientists are expected to develop and expand outstanding, independent research programs. They will conduct innovative research independently and collaboratively, produce impactful scholarship, grow extramural funding, engage in and promote research training for learners at all levels, and support the University’s service missions in delivering and improving health care. All applications will be considered, with priority for established research programs in the disease and health areas listed under preferred qualifications. Applicants must upload a curriculum vitae and a one-page letter of interest. Review has begun and will continue until positions are filled. Candidates selected for employment will undergo a pre-employment background investigation. Physicians and other clinical faculty candidates employed by the University of Alabama Health Services Foundation or other UAB Medicine entities must also successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen.
