About The Position

The Department of Environmental Health at the Boston University School of Public Health (BUSPH) invites applications for faculty positions with start dates expected to be in Spring/Summer 2027. The primary focus is on candidates for appointment at the Assistant Professor level, though applications for higher ranks will also be considered. The department seeks versatile, collaborative, and creative faculty dedicated to understanding and improving population health by addressing environmental health challenges and redressing inequities across various scales, from molecular to global. Priority will be given to candidates with active external funding to support their research and scholarship at BUSPH. BUSPH is committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment where all community members can thrive. The Department of Environmental Health is internationally recognized for its research, teaching, and collaborative culture, investigating critical environmental health issues such as the health effects of contaminants, extreme weather, energy systems, water and sanitation, military environmental health, and emerging diseases. The department emphasizes solutions-oriented work in partnership with stakeholders and communities, with a focus on environmental and social justice. It offers MPH certificates in Environmental Health and Justice & Climate Change and Health, and a PhD program in Environmental Health. Faculty also benefit from the school-wide Center for Climate and Health, collaborative opportunities with other centers, access to BU's extensive laboratory and clinical resources, computing facilities, and university-wide centers. Mentorship and development opportunities are provided to support faculty success.

Requirements

  • PhD or equivalent degree in a relevant field.
  • Active external funding to support research and scholarship.
  • Versatile, collaborative, and exceptionally creative.
  • Motivated to understand and improve population health.
  • Ability to work at any scale from molecular to population and at any scope from local to global.
