Faculty Position in the Center for Advanced Therapeutics
About The Position
The Wistar Institute is seeking an established faculty candidate for an open position in its Center for Advanced Therapeutics (CAT), appointed under the Barbara B. Knowles, Ph.D. Endowed Professorship. CAT bridges foundational discovery research and development of novel therapeutics in cancer, immunity, and infectious diseases. The professorship honors Dr. Barbara Knowles’s contributions to stem cell biology and tumor immunology at Wistar. The successful candidate will join CAT in approximately 12,000 square feet of new, state-of-the-art laboratory space on Wistar’s main campus in University City, Philadelphia. The position includes endowed support and a competitive recruitment and relocation package commensurate with the candidate’s experience and appointment rank. Wistar is an NCI-designated Basic Cancer Center and an independent biomedical research institute with strengths in cancer, immunology, infectious diseases, and translational research. The Institute offers state-of-the-art research facilities and shared resources in a collaborative scientific environment. Its Philadelphia location, adjacent to the University of Pennsylvania, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and Drexel University, offers opportunities for collaboration, interdisciplinary research, and access to expertise and technologies.
Requirements
- Ph.D., M.D./Ph.D., or equivalent degree.
- Established track record of scientific achievement, including high-impact publications.
- Track record of sustained extramural funding.
- Strong commitment to elucidating novel disease drivers and therapy-directed research.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research that elucidates novel disease drivers and advances therapy-directed research.
- Contribute to the Center for Advanced Therapeutics’ mission of bridging foundational discovery research and novel therapeutic development in cancer, immunity, and infectious diseases.
