About The Position

The Department of Computational Biology at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is seeking to fill Assistant/Associate/Full Member (faculty) positions. These roles will focus on advancing pediatric cancer research through computational innovation. Two primary areas of focus are A — Omics Technologies, which involves developing next-generation omics platforms for pediatric biology and diseases, and B — AI in Biomedicine, which aims to build foundation models and agentic AI tools for pediatric precision medicine. The department offers a highly collaborative research environment with extensive resources, including cloud computing, high-performance computing, a genomics laboratory, wet lab support, and a software engineering team. The position is key in several institutional projects such as the Pediatric Cancer Genome Project (PCGP) and St. Jude Cloud.

Requirements

  • PhD (or equivalent) with at least three years of relevant postgraduate experience, or a demonstrated track record of developing novel, high impact computational methods.
  • For Area A: evidence of assay–algorithm co design in RNA/CRISPR/single cell/spatial/metabolomics.
  • For Area B: experience with foundation models, multimodal learning, clinical NLP, and trustworthy AI; familiarity with clinical informatics.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building LLM driven, agentic systems for automated analysis or experiment planning with appropriate guardrails is highly valued.

Responsibilities
