About The Position

Thomas Jefferson University's Department of Psychiatry & Human Behavior has openings for faculty of all ranks. The department offers strong senior mentorship and opportunities in clinical care, education, and research across various specialties including Outpatient Psychiatry, Inpatient Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry, Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry, and Neuro-Modulation. These roles involve patient care, teaching medical students and residents, and contributing to the department's academic mission. All positions require participation in the faculty weekend and weeknight call schedule.

Requirements

  • Faculty of all rank
  • Full-time position preferred for outpatient and inpatient roles, but part-time considered for outpatient.
  • Board eligibility or board certification by the ABPN or ABPM for addiction psychiatry or addiction medicine is preferred for Addiction Psychiatry role.
  • Medical management with some psychotherapy for a diverse population of patients.
  • Experience in treating comorbid substance abuse and medical issues.
  • Coordination of discharge with social work.

Responsibilities

  • Provide medical management and psychotherapy for a diverse patient population in an outpatient setting.
  • Serve as an attending physician on the Adult Inpatient Psychiatry Unit, responsible for clinical, educational, and administrative aspects.
  • Evaluate new patients, provide ongoing care, manage comorbid substance abuse and medical issues, and coordinate discharge planning.
  • Provide psychiatric care to patients with substance use disorders within a network of substance use disorder programs.
  • Focus on inpatient consultation with some outpatient clinical work for Consultation-Liaison services.
  • Provide Neuro-modulation services and develop an enterprise-wide Neuro-modulation Program.
  • Teach medical students and supervise psychiatry residents.
  • Participate in the faculty weekend call schedule (on-site and telephone coverage every 10-12 weeks).
  • Participate in weeknight phone coverage 1-2 nights per month.
