About The Position

The Department of Neurology at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston is seeking an outstanding faculty physician to join the Division of Dementia and Memory Disorders at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience. McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston is committed to advancing innovative patient care, education, and discovery. We invite applications from neurologists passionate about improving the lives of patients and families affected by dementia and other neurodegenerative disorders and eager to contribute to a dynamic, collaborative academic environment. Our ideal candidate brings expertise or a strong interest in cognitive neurology, dementia, and memory disorders, with particular enthusiasm for clinical trials, translational research, neurodegenerative movement disorders, and the psychiatric manifestations of neurodegenerative disease. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing academic program and contribute to the division's missions of clinical excellence, discovery, education, and service. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop and expand their clinical and academic interests while collaborating with multidisciplinary colleagues across UTHealth Houston.

Requirements

  • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school.
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited neurology residency.
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited fellowship in dementia, memory disorders, or cognitive neurology
  • ABPN board certification or eligibility in Neurology
  • Texas medical license or eligibility for Texas licensure.
  • Excellent clinical skills, including comprehensive history-taking, neurological examination, and interpretation of diagnostic studies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, trainees, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Demonstrated commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented academic environment.
  • Commitment to excellence, discovery, education, and service, with the potential to be outstanding in one's area of expertise.

Nice To Haves

  • Expertise or a strong interest in cognitive neurology, dementia, and memory disorders, with particular enthusiasm for clinical trials, translational research, neurodegenerative movement disorders, and the psychiatric manifestations of neurodegenerative disease.
