About The Position

The Department of Veterinary Technology at Kent State University at Trumbull is seeking a non-tenure track (NTT) faculty member to begin January 14, 2027. This role involves teaching a variety of classroom and laboratory courses within their AVMA CVTEA accredited veterinary technology program. The position is based at the Trumbull Campus in Warren, Ohio, with potential for off-site duties in Trumbull and surrounding counties.

Requirements

• Active Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or Veterinariae Medicinae Doctoris (VMD) of Medicine licensure in the State of Ohio.
• Possesses strong communication skills with the ability to connect with undergraduate students.
• Requires a broad knowledge of veterinary technology.
• Must have at least two years of work experience.
• Will be required to obtain and maintain the appropriate Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration.
• Will be required to obtain and maintain the Ohio Terminal Distributor of Dangerous Drugs (TDDD) license for Kent State University at Trumbull, as required for the position.
• Must pass a security check.

Responsibilities

• Teaches one or more courses in the Veterinary Technology Program, which may include classroom, laboratories, or a combination thereof. This may involve teaching animal handling and clinical techniques for various species.
• Prepares and delivers learning activities designed to achieve course outcomes.
• Develops course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.
• Evaluates and grades students' class work, laboratory work, assignments, papers, and examinations.
• Maintains and submits student attendance records, grades, and other required documentation by specified deadlines.
• Fosters a positive classroom environment that promotes active and collaborative learning, student effort, academic challenge, student and faculty interaction, and support for learners.
• Participates in periodic meetings with the Program Director concerning teaching duties, training, and development.
• Adheres to current course outlines, objectives, and evaluation mechanisms for the program, or develops them as directed by the Program Director.
