About The Position

Kent State University's College of Nursing invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, non-tenure track faculty position beginning Fall 2026. We seek an experienced and student-focused educator to join our dynamic and growing nursing program. The successful candidate will primarily teach Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing in the graduate curriculum and may contribute to teaching undergraduate and graduate-level courses in the nursing program (outside of the mental health nursing specialty as needed). Responsibilities include both classroom and clinical instruction, with a strong commitment to nursing education at multiple levels.

Requirements

  • Nurse Practitioner degree with a psychiatric mental health concentration at the time of hire.
  • Active Ohio RN license and a psychiatric mental health NP licensure.
  • A minimum of 1 year of clinical experience as a psychiatric mental health NP.
  • Commitment to excellence in teaching and student engagement.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of five years of Psychiatric Mental Health Clinical experience.
  • Experience teaching at both Undergraduate and Graduate levels.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • A Doctoral Degree (PhD or DNP) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Teach psychiatric mental health nursing courses in the graduate program.
  • Provide high-quality instruction in both didactic and clinical settings.
  • Mentor and advise undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Participate in curriculum development, evaluation, and program enhancement.
  • Collaborate with faculty and clinical partners to support student success.
