About The Position

The Elon University Department of Physical Therapy Education and the School of Health Sciences are seeking to fill two full-time, tenure-track or continuing track positions at the Associate or Assistant Professor level. These roles are due to retirements and require individuals with demonstrated excellent teaching and clinical experience, preferably in Anatomical Sciences or Musculoskeletal physical therapy practice. Responsibilities include directing the Elon Sports Physical Therapy Residency, teaching other courses based on departmental need and expertise, academic advising, student mentoring, and service to the department, school, and university. Candidates should possess effective interpersonal and communication skills, a commitment to collaborative teamwork, and professional growth. The start date is negotiable.

Requirements

  • A record of excellent teaching and ongoing scholarship related to physical therapy practice, education, or rehabilitation/movement science
  • Eligibility for licensure as a physical therapist in North Carolina
  • A minimum of 3 years of clinical practice
  • Active membership in the APTA
  • A DPT degree from an accredited institution
  • ABPTS Board Certification or an academic terminal degree (e.g., PhD, EdD, DSc)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with post-professional mentoring
  • Experience as a mid-career content specialist and mentor
  • An academic terminal degree (Candidates who are in the dissertation candidacy phase will be considered)
  • Active participation or mentorship in a professional organization
  • Commitment to inclusive professional and educational practices
  • Clinical, educational, or mentorship experience in residency or fellowship for the Musculoskeletal position
  • Evidence of engaged teaching practices including experience with donor-based Anatomy instruction for the Anatomical Sciences position
