About The Position

The faculty will be responsible for educational leadership and student instruction on a part-time, face-to-face basis in mathematics courses. Instruct and evaluate students in one or more of the following courses, with emphasis on relating mathematics instruction to technical programs: Pre Algebra, Elementary Algebra I & II, Career Mathematics, Structures of Mathematics, Topics in Mathematics, Elementary Statistics, and Technical Algebra and Trigonometry. This is an on-campus adjunct teaching opportunity located in Williamsport, PA. Applicants must be able to teach classes in person on Penn College's campus. This is not a remote position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics or directly related discipline.
  • Relevant secondary or college teaching experience.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with students, faculty, staff, and the public.
  • Sensitivity to the expectations of students, faculty, and staff.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form.
  • Developed organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to diversity and multicultural issues.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Mathematics or directly related discipline.
  • Coursework in or experience using technology in instruction.
  • Background which applies mathematics to the trades.
  • Experience with graphing calculators and/or computers in a mathematical instructional setting.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct and evaluate students in one or more of the following courses, with emphasis on relating mathematics instruction to technical programs: Pre Algebra, Elementary Algebra I & II, Career Mathematics, Structures of Mathematics, Topics in Mathematics, Elementary Statistics, and Technical Algebra and Trigonometry.
  • Maintain accurate written records of student performance.
  • Participate in School assessment process.
  • Take attendance and maintain records of student attendance.
  • Maintain office hours according to the standardized part time teaching agreement.
  • Attend department and School meetings as requested.

Benefits

  • The part-time rate for 2026/27 will be the greater of $1180 per credit or $787 per contact hour, prorated for student enrollment under seven. The approved substitute pay rate is $49.17 per hour during the first week of substituting and the prorated part-time teacher rate for consecutive substitute assignments that exceed one week.
