About The Position

The Faculty-Led Program Specialist is a full-time professional staff member in the Center for Global Learning responsible for supporting the successful implementation of faculty-led study abroad programs and leading marketing and outreach initiatives for study abroad across OSU. This position will spend approximately 60% of its time on direct support for faculty-led programs, 30% on marketing, promotion, and communications, and 10% on other duties as assigned. The position ensures smooth program operations, provides administrative and logistical support to faculty leaders, students, campus colleagues involved in short-term study abroad programing, and drives program growth through innovative marketing strategies and outreach campaigns.

Requirements

  • High school/GED.
  • Four years of work experience. Post-secondary education may be substituted for experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, students, and external providers.
  • Experience supporting education abroad programs or student services in higher education.
  • Proficiency with digital marketing tools (social media platforms, email campaigns, content management, design tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency: Terra Dotta (or similar study abroad management system), Banner, Microsoft Office 365, Adobe Suite.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree and three or more years of related experience in international education or marketing/communications
  • Prior work experience in a study abroad office, higher education setting, or program provider organization
  • Ability to interact with global program representatives, faculty, and students in a highly professional manner with an understanding of protocol and confidentiality
  • Work, study, or travel experience abroad

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and logistical support for faculty-led study abroad programs, including application management, enrollment, orientation, and pre-departure preparation
  • Support faculty in developing new programs, including course approval processes, provider coordination, and budget assistance
  • Offer expert advice in the development of new international education programs and initiatives, ensuring they align with OSU and the Center for Global Learning’s long-term objectives and strategic goals, particularly in fostering interdisciplinary and innovative educational experiences
  • Serve as a point of contact for faculty and students during program planning and implementation
  • Assist with risk management and health & safety processes, including communication and emergency planning, and implementing the course leader training each semester
  • Maintain accurate program records, databases, and reports to support assessment and continuous improvement
  • Assist in overseeing the Terra Dotta system for the Center for Global Learning and academic colleges by maintaining application cycles, deployment rules, material creation, and brochures
  • Develop and implement strategic marketing campaigns to increase awareness and participation in study abroad, with emphasis on faculty-led programs
  • Work with the Exchange Coordinator, OSU Brand Management, and OSU Global Communication Specialist to create promotional materials for exchange partners abroad not limited to interactive booklets, brochures, and videos promoting OSU
  • Create content and manage communications across platforms, including websites, social media, newsletters, and print materials
  • Collaborate with academic colleges, faculty, and student organizations to increase visibility and engagement
  • Ensure consistent branding and messaging in all study abroad communications in alignment with OSU marketing standards
  • Collect and analyze marketing data to evaluate outreach effectiveness and recommend improvements
  • Support office-wide recruitment and engagement efforts, including campus fairs, presentations, prospective student events, and workshops.
  • Oversee the creation of annual reports to the OSU Foundation for donor funded scholarships by working with the CGL Scholarship Coordinator
  • Assist in outbound/inbound orientations and cultural programing
  • Participate in the OSU Global monthly Communications Meetings
  • Educate the Peer Advisors on website navigation, marketing campaigns, and other print/digital promotional materials
