About The Position

The Faculty/Instructor position oversees the academic components/program design and student recruitment for the program. Individuals in this role finalize the course syllabus, manage the Canvas shell, and handle grading. In addition, faculty/instructors work closely with in-country partners to design the itinerary to meet the academic goals of the program. Faculty/instructors collaborate closely with support staff to build strong, trusting relationships with students, serving as a consistent source for academic and social-emotional guidance for students.

Requirements

  • Experience in interdisciplinary teaching of Engineering and Sustainability
  • Experience in program and curriculum design
  • Successful completion of a background check.

  • Proficiency in Dutch

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the academic components/program design and student recruitment for the program.
  • Finalize the course syllabus, manage the Canvas shell, and handle grading.
  • Work closely with in-country partners to design the itinerary to meet the academic goals of the program.
  • Collaborate closely with support staff to build strong, trusting relationships with students, serving as a consistent source for academic and social-emotional guidance for students.
  • Collaborate with on-site partner organization to understand and development international itinerary.
  • Develop/Update Syllabus and academic content.
  • Communicate with key people in departments (Advisors, teaching faculty) to share information about the program.
  • Attend and participate in all preparation and planning meetings.
  • Identify support staff if enrollment goals are met.
  • Collaborate with on-site staff while abroad to confirm itineraries.
  • Communicate with interested applicants about academic/itinerary questions.
  • Review and select applicants.
  • Co-facilitate the First Group Meeting in late spring or early fall to welcome students to the program.
  • Be available for 24/7 emergency response for students in-country.
  • Check on the social, emotional, mental health of students daily.
  • Complete incident reports as needed.
  • Attend Education Aboard debrief after program return.
  • Complete all necessary travel financial submissions within 2 weeks of return.
