About The Position

The Miner School of Computer & Information Sciences at the University of Massachusetts Lowell invites applications for a tenure-track, open-rank faculty position in the field of core Artificial Intelligence (AI), including but not limited to Generative AI, Foundation Models, Large Language Models (LLMs), Vision-Language Models (VLMs), World Models, AI Agents, Multimodal Learning, Machine Learning, and Trustworthy AI. Starting in September 2027, this role is expected to help build our programs in Applied Artificial Intelligence and to contribute to the development of our recently established Center for Artificial Intelligence Research Computing.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in computer and information sciences or a closely related discipline.
  • Commitment to developing and sustaining externally funded research programs.
  • Strong potential to establish and maintain substantial research, teaching, and service.
  • Ability to publish refereed publications.
  • Ability to obtain competitive external grants.
  • Ability to supervise postgraduate students.
  • Demonstrated capability of management and leadership that could apply in an academic environment.
