About The Position

Grand Canyon University (GCU) is seeking a full-time Foundations Lab/Clinical Nursing Faculty member for its ABSN E. Valley location in Chandler/East Valley. This role involves providing lab and clinical instruction, incorporating innovative teaching methodologies and technologies. The College of Nursing has a 30-year history of providing outstanding healthcare and nursing degree programs. GCU is an institutionally accredited, private, nondenominational Christian University located in Phoenix, Arizona. The ideal candidate will be passionate about teaching, committed to exceptional quality instruction in modern facilities with smaller class sizes, and interested in strengthening the diversity of the academic community. The role also involves collaborating across colleges and with industry leaders to promote human flourishing, integrating faith, and upholding the university's pillars.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree required (MSN)
  • 2 years of direct patient care nursing experience
  • An active, current and unencumbered Registered Nurse license in the state of Arizona or a compact state
  • Excellent communication skills, and the ability to build positive relationships with students and preceptors

Nice To Haves

  • Prior teaching experience at the collegiate level
  • Evidence of involvement in one’s professional area (e.g. membership in professional organizations, presentations, research, and/or publications)

Responsibilities

  • Reinforce didactic content and teach in the context of the clinical and lab application of knowledge and skills related to pre-licensure Nursing
  • Collaborate with content area faculty to provide expert evaluation and documentation of student progress toward clinical and lab objectives
  • Participate in grading written and Clinical/Lab performance check-offs
  • Preserve lines of communication with program faculty and director, including attendance in select faculty meetings
  • Remain current with new trends and developments in the specific field of nursing practice
  • Maintain compliance with requirements for program accreditation
  • Uphold the tenets of nursing as a holistic profession as well as the pillars of the University
  • Travel to student clinical sites to directly observe student performance
