About The Position

In the Film Production Master of Fine Arts degree program, students learn the artistic, technical, professional, and academic aspects of filmmaking. The program provides aspiring filmmakers with the advanced creative, technical, and aesthetic knowledge and skills required to produce, crew, and package a professional feature-length or short film. This comprehensive program integrates the study of numerous filmmaking disciplines, including screenwriting, visual storytelling, directing, editing, and producing. Graduates of the Film Production master of fine arts degree program leave prepared for the professional film industry and are equipped with a range of technical and creative skills needed for career success. We seek candidates with industry experience in filmmaking or television, including writing, directing, cinematography, producing, and editing. Proficiency in software programs like Movie Magic Budgeting and Scheduling, Final Draft, ProTools, and Avid Media Composer is a plus. Experience or knowledge of film theory and aesthetics is preferred. Course Directors may be required to teach both on-campus and online. All positions are full time, on-campus in Winter Park, FL.

Requirements

  • Minimum of four (4) years of related and verifiable work experience
  • MFA in Film, Film Studies, Film & Television Production, Film Making, or a terminal degree in a related discipline.
  • Strong experience in the film industry is required.
  • Industry experience would include screenwriting, producing, directing, cinematography, or editing.
  • Proficiency using software programs such as MS Word, Excel, Keynote/PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Working knowledge of professional practices and production techniques.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in software programs like Movie Magic Budgeting and Scheduling, Final Draft, ProTools, and Avid Media Composer is a plus.
  • Experience or knowledge of film theory and aesthetics is preferred.
  • Experience working in production, including but not limited to film, television or commercial production, with IMDB credits preferred.
  • Experience in cinematography, art direction or sound is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Create an environment of learning through effective teaching skills, maintain student-centered focus, and update curriculum to keep current and relevant to industry standards.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and encourage active learning.
  • Create learning activities, including assignments, tests, quizzes and labs, and assess student outcomes in a timely manner through effective assessment and constructive feedback to students to support the learning process.
  • Perform lectures for campus courses, and hold scheduled virtual course meetings for online courses. Teaching will be conducted through on-campus and online delivery.
  • Interact positively with diverse student populations; provide all students with equal opportunities for learning.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the industry, maintain knowledge and skill relevancy through continuing education as defined in the faculty development plan.
