About The Position

The Faculty, English position is a full-time, 10-month Faculty position. This position is an instructional position with duties and responsibilities which are established in accordance with State Board of Education Rules and Board of Trustee policies. Teaching assignments will include various composition, literature, developmental and writing intensive courses. Hours will vary according to class schedules. This position maintains a 37.5-hour week and reports to the Dean, Arts & Hospitality. All instructors are responsible for utilizing the College’s learning management system as all College courses are at a minimum technology enhanced.

  • Master's degree in English or Master’s degree in any field with 18 graduate semester hours of prefix specific coursework in field required; Doctorate preferred.
  • Three (3) years teaching experience at the community college level or higher is preferred.
  • Three (3) years work experience in field is preferred.
  • Completed CFK application, cover letter, resume, and post-secondary transcripts as applicable (unofficial and/or copies are acceptable, but must provide official transcripts within 30 days of employment).

Nice To Haves

  • Doctorate preferred.
  • Three (3) years teaching experience at the community college level or higher is preferred.
  • Three (3) years work experience in field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, organizes and instructs assigned courses to promote student success.
  • Maintains required office hours to provide assistance to students and communication with administration.
  • Responsible for evaluating student learning and objective achievement and providing feedback.
  • Selects appropriate materials and equipment for discipline or program use, and ensures proper care and safety in their use.
  • Adheres to and enforces the administrative policies and procedures of the College.
  • Works with other Faculty to evaluate and revise existing courses and to develop new courses.
  • Assists in implementing College policies, objectives and functions in accordance with the College Mission Statement.
  • Participates and assists with accreditation efforts as assigned by supervisor.
  • Responsible for keeping current in the discipline or program areas taught.
  • Participates in staff and committee work.
  • Attends College-wide academic and staff meetings and academic official functions.
  • Maintains good relationships with community agencies and groups and participates as appropriate.
  • Participates in Institutional Planning and Budget process.
  • Assists in all College recruitment & retention efforts as appropriate.
  • Attends Graduation/Commencement ceremonies.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
